I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as fol lowers of Moses. All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
1 Corinthians 10:1-5
Well, if we were all confused on the matter of “once saved always saved” I am sure you confused again now. What is Paul doing? I thought we were talking about the lengths that Paul would go to share the gospel. He was telling us how he would be all things to all people in order to win them. Then he slipped in the comment about not wanting to lose his salvation after the lengths he had gone to share the gospel. Even after all that it seems Paul was aware he could lose his salvation. He has been working methodically through the questions the Corinthians asked him in a letter. Before that he handled the issue that Chloe and others brought to Paul’s attention.
Now suddenly we have switched tack completely and it seems Paul has lost us all. What is he doing now? Why has he gone back to the wilderness in the time of Old Testament Israel and left us in the wilderness of his thoughts? Well it time for you to sort it out for yourself. It is always important for us to keep the thread of connection firmly in our minds. Always look for the connectedness between the thought processes. Especially when it comes to Paul.
Before we look further at this tomorrow spend some time trying to work out what Paul is doing for yourself. Meet you back here tomorrow.
