Yes, I am sure it is apparent to you that we have finished the last segment of the Greater Interpolation (Luke 9:51 – 18:14). We crossed boundary of the Greater Interpolation a couple of days ago when we started the segment on “Let the children come to me”. I just didn’t draw your attention to it because I was not intending to use the parallel passages for the coverage on the children. But I would be remiss if I didn’t use the parallel passages for this pericope. Yes, we have now finished the ‘Luke Only’ segments and are back into the world of being able to compare accounts between the synoptic Gospels. This one is well worth the effort you take to analyze it.
I will leave you the pleasure of examining this story for yourself to find the differences and the similarities. Remember I have told you before, that we can gain an understanding of a particular writer’s theme or purpose, by noting the changes they have made to the passage as compared with the other accounts available. That is certainly the case with this story. Let me remind you of the colour coding that we used for other segments where we made these comparisons, so that you are in the position of colouring and analyzing this portion in the same way we have handled other passages.

If you don’t have time to do the colouring, that’s alright. Just wait for the next Gem when I share what I have done with you. But if you want the fun of doing it for yourself, now is your chance. If you don’t get it done no problem. Just don’t open Bible Gem 1117 until you are ready. Have fun.
