So they arrested Him and led Him to the high priest’s home. And Peter followed at a distance. The guards lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter joined them there. A servant girl noticed him in the firelight and began staring at him. Fin ally she said, “This man was one of Jesus’ followers!” But Peter denied it. “Woman,” he said, “I don’t even know him!” After a while someone else looked at him and said, “You must be one of them!” “No, man, I’m not!” Peter retorted. About an hour later someone else insisted, “This must be one of them, because he is a Galilean, too.” But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know Me.” And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.
Luke 22:54-62
We now start a new section. The moment Jesus predicted is now upon them. Take the time to gather your resources and investigate this section before I pull it apart for you. I am sure you are familiar with the drill by now. We have done it so many times now that it must be second nature to you. Some have asked why I do this with each section. I am primarily doing it with my Deeper Bible students in mind, but figure I will let the rest of you benefit as well. I keep doing so that it becomes second nature to you to the point where you don’t even have to think about it.
This segment is an interesting one. Not only was it predicted and so we need to compare it with what was said about it earlier. Luke is the one who makes more of the prediction of Peter’s denial than the other gospel writers and includes extended comments on the temptation or testing for all the disciples and not just Peter. Not only that, but there is a wealth of detail available to us to study. So this gives you a lot to do before I start to analyze it on Monday morning. At least you have an extra day to spend the time on it. Or as many of you do, save it to the work folder to spend time on it when you are able. Just don’t read the Gems from Monday onward until you are ready.
I will leave you now with the task at hand. Enjoy yourself.
Just remember: Give a man or woman a fish; feed him or her for a day. Teach a man or woman to fish; feed him or her for a lifetime. I am more into teaching you to fish than giving you fish.
Just remember STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS.

Proximity to greatness doesn’t necessarily equate to impartation. Judas and John were both close to Jesus. The key is found in your response.
