The trial has come to an end and the verdict has been given. Pilate has now handed Jesus over for crucifixion. There is more I could have focused on in the section before this but I thought it prudent to move on. Otherwise I won’t have this finished before Easter; we would still have been pulling apart the details of the story in three months time.
I have given you the next segment from the harmony focused solely on what happened soon after Pilate pronounced judgement in favour of the Sanhedrin’s wishes. Events started to move quickly after the verdict was made public. Even though this is a short segment it is packed full of interesting material. This short little segment might take us a number of days to work our way through. You know what to do with this passage. You will need to pay particular attention to the differences between the gospel accounts and ask yourself lots of questions like I encouraged you to do in Gems 1249 and 1250. Only this time I am not going to give you the questions first. You are on your own to do the colouring and come up with the questions before I lead you in the analysis.
It is packed with interesting goodies, so it is well worth the effort . We will unpack it together in subsequent Gems. This ought to give you great satisfaction to work on a short section that is very significant. Have fun.
