Bible Gem 2379 – What’s In Store for the Children of Light? (Revelation 21:1-7)

¹Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. ²And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. ³I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. ⁴He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” ⁵And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” ⁶And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. ⁷All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

I have served this passage up to you in numbers of different ways. We are talking about what the Jews refer to as The Life of the Age to Come. You will see I have tagged this concept in this Gem. What has been happening in Great Britain lately helps us understand still more how the Life of the Age to Come can be here and yet not here yet. I am sure you are familiar with the cries coming out of Britain related to the royal family these days with the catch cry “Not my King!” There are those who are royalists through and through. On the other hand there are those who refused the notion of Charles being their king, when Charles and the Queen closed ranks related to Andrew and his connection with Jeffrey Epstein. The displeasure of their subjects caused many to wonder whether royalty were receptive to the voice of the people and if they were still fit to govern.

Transfer that same attitude to Jesus and modern thinking on religious matters. The Kingdom of God will come in its fullness when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God. It may seem we are a long way off from the Kingdom of God coming in all its fullness. I believe, as I wrote in Gem 1938, all it will take is for every eye seeing Him coming on the clouds, for those opposed to Him to realise they were wrong. Hard to say “Not my King” at that point. As I have written, I think people will fall to their knees and confess they were wrong, albeit too late to benefit from God’s promised inheritance for the Children of God.

I have told you already John divides the world into two contrastive realities. He did it in Chapter 15:1-8 and he is doing it again here in Chapter 21. Quite simply there are those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and those whose names are not. What is in store for the Children of Light, those whose names are written in the Book of Life? John tells us clearly in this passage before us. Let’s look at the detail.

• God’s home is now among his people!
• He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.
• He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
• There will be no more death.
• There will be no more sorrow.
• There will be no crying.
• There will be no more pain.
• All these things: tears, death, sorrow, crying and pain are gone forever. 
• I am making everything new! A New Earth, a New Heaven.
• What I, John, tell you is trustworthy and true because God Himself told me.
• The Alpha and the Omega (the Beginning and the End) told me.
• To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life I told Ezekiel and John about.
• There will be no more sea; instead of rivers, the land will be watered by the Springs of Life, touching all Life.
• All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings and more besides.
• I will be their God, and they will be my children.

• What else is included in God’s promised inheritance?
• What is involved in the heavenly prize?

Who would not want all of this or even a portion of it? To lose out on any or all of it I could only imagine would come with weeping and the gnashing of teeth. Your response could be like others who think: “No! It can’t be true! I was told your story was just a myth.” . . . Receive His free offer now while you still can. Don’t put it off for another second.

How do I Get Eternal Life [Zoe]?

Simply put: The Life of the Age To Come is the restoration of LIFE, Eternal Life with the quality that God intended for LIFE at Creation. Far beyond anything you could wish for or even imagine. The foretaste of that LIFE could be yours now with the promise of the fullness when you step from Life into ZOE LIFE; not from life to death but from life to LIFE as God intended it.

For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2

Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!

Hebrews 12:25
