Well I have finally done it. You wondered if I would ever reach the end of Romans. Some have told me I can’t believe you are now going through every one of those names in Romans 16.
It has taken 171 Gems and 2,164 tweets to cover the amazing book of Romans. I trust it has been worth it people. Judging by the response from you and the comments I have got back from some you have appreciated the depth I have gone to. Please give me your input so I can make sure I hit the spot for you. Many have told me I should publish these Gems in a book and I will indeed do so on the website. The time when you have searchable access to all I have written over the years is coming close. That organisation and editing is what I am working on at the moment in my “spare time”.
Two have asked me to take them off the daily emailed list for Gems and put them on the weekly list. I really don’t understand that. If it were me I would want to get all the Gems but then store them and go through at my leisure. Remember you can deal with the Gems in your own time frame. I guess that will be easier to do when they are posted and indexed on the new website. To have the Gems and Nuggets emailed t you when the new website is up and running you will have to subscribed to the service.
Well I trust you agree with me and with Martin Luther, Augustine, John Wesley, Chrysostum, Tyndale and many others.
- Romans is worthy of our attention.
- Romans is the only book of the New Testament where the gospel is fully defined and systematically outlined.
- Romans is deep and has some interesting things to say. It is worthy of our attention.
- A good understanding of the book of Romans is foundational to a good understanding of Christianity.
Many Christian leaders have been impacted by a study of Romans. I trust you too have been impacted. I trust something has happened for you during our study of Romans. If that is the case then please share it with me. It will encourage me too. My suggestion now is that you re-read Romans after having followed my Gems to this point. Read the book again to get the Gems and the flow of the book more firmly in your mind. I won’t pick out the themes of Romans again and summarise the book for you. I will let you do that. It is a good technique to get the book more firmly in your mind.
See you at Gaius’ house in Corinth in a few weeks. Talk to me in the interim.
Without doubt, whoever takes this letter to heart possesses the light and power of the Old Testament. Therefore each and every Christian should make this letter the habitual and constant object of his study.
Martin Luther
We should not only use all the brains we have, but all that we can borrow.
Woodrow Wilson
You cannot gain experience without paying a price.
Bob Gass
You just have to hope that the price is not greater than the value of the experience you gain.
Bob Gass
You cannot judge what the price will be until after you have gained the experience.
Bob Gass
It’s tragic to pay the price for experience and not learn the lesson.
