Riss had put Vaeh to bed but she came out to the lounge again saying she was scared that there was going to be a fire in the house. There had been several occasions when Vaeh had been afraid that a fire would happen. Riss had prayed for her a number of times but they still hadn’t got the root of her fears. So Riss told Vaeh to ask Father God where she learned that she needed to be scared of a fire. So Vaeh asked Him and said, “It was at school when they did fire and safety and learned what a fire can do. Riss then suggested she forgive the teachers who had taught her how bad a fire can be. Riss then told her to ask God “What is the truth?” (When we know the truth, the truth will set us free.) When Riss asked Vaeh what God had said, she said that God had told her He was with her. Riss then changed the topic.
A minute later Vaeh said, “Mum God actually said something else too but I don’t understand it. He told me three weird names.”
Riss asked her, “What were the names?”
Vaeh said, “I can’t remember them.”
Then she added, “There was an angel in the fire too.”
Alerted to the context Riss asked, “Were the names God told you Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego?”
Vaeh said, “Yes, that’s the names God told me.”
Riss then took Vaeh to the Bible story and they read it and learned how God kept Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego safe in the fire. God had told Vaeh He was with her and protects her, giving the example through the weird names. No more problems with fear of fire when going to sleep.
