Zevenschimig, an elder in a local Christian church, had a little son who was seriously ill. In the hospital, he was told that his son’s health would only improve very slowly, if at all. Zevenschimig asked the other elders to come to the hospital to pray for the child. After the prayer, the child’s health suddenly improved. The doctor was very surprised by the speed of the child’s improvement. Zevenschimig told her that they had prayed to Jesus, and invited her to church. The doctor decided to follow Jesus.
The doctor and her husband had a small child, which suffered from repeated epileptic attacks. On Easter Sunday 2000, the doctor could not go to church because the child suffered another attack. The doctor in the ambulance told her ‘Because you are a doctor, I’ll tell you the truth: your child is going to die.’ They didn’t even take the child back to the hospital. The mother realised that the church would pray for her child and the child’s condition improved significantly after prayer. In the afternoon, the child could already sit up and wanted to walk around. The mother called the emergency doctor, to show him the happy result of his diagnosis. In the meantime, her husband is also unable to deny that God is at work. He still doesn’t go to church, but instructs his wife to make sure she doesn’t miss or arrive late at any services. It’s just a matter of time until he comes too.”
