[Radio for Friday, October 15th, 1999]
Dong-Wha, (not his real name) was the son of a pastor in a different Asian country. He was brought up under the guidance of the Word but rejected his father’s teaching. Under a time of persecution his father and the rest of his family were killed. They were offered the chance to renounce Christ but they refused. Dong-Wha was watching as they were made to dig their own graves and then forced to stand on the edge of the holes. Each family member was asked to renounce Christ and live but all refused. Dong-Wha was then brought forward and persuaded to give up this foolishness. None did and all died.
Now a number of years later Dong-Wha has a copy of his father’s Bible buried in the forest, which he digs up regularly and reads. He has become a believer and wishes now to follow the teaching of his father. But he can’t openly display a Bible, thus he has to rely on his buried copy. Apparently during years he has been burying his Bible, the copy has not deteriorated at all.
