This story is a sequel to the previous one. The villagers still harboured murderous intent. The leaders of the church youth retreat locked everyone up in dorms and told them to pray. But the villagers burst in and dragged out 33-year-old Hengky, a teacher, and slashed his feet and body. He was then thrown into the gutter, where he died. The doors to all the dorms were forced open. Everyone was marched outside and made to stand in three groups: children, teenagers and adults.
The attackers singled-out 15-year-old, Roy, and asked him in front of everyone, “Who are you?” He replied, “I am a soldier of Christ.” To everyone’s horror, they chopped off his left arm. They asked him again, “Who are you?” Back came the reply, “I am a soldier of Christ.” They hacked at his right arm. Then they tried to make Roy recant, but he replied, “As far as I know, Jesus Christ is the only Lord.” At that they cut open his stomach. A third time they asked him, “Who are you,” and as he gasped his reply, “I am a soldier of Christ,” he was beheaded. His body was thrown into the gutter, but his spirit entered through gates of gold.
That was the first kind of miracle the villagers witnessed – the courageous way Christians are willing to die.
