I had just returned from meetings in Korea and heard many stories of the Lord’s protection for his people. Much of the long term work in Asia is in areas where people are hostile to the gospel. Over the next series of Rhema stories I will share a number of personal accounts I heard.
Siwah (name changed for security reasons), an Asian woman, who was given one page from a Bible, hand written in the national language, not in her own vernacular language. This page represented a part of Luke 22. It originated from a page taken from a complete Bible along with all the other pages which were divided among a number of believers. Those people had then taken their page and hand copied it for others to read. Siwah received one of those hand copied pages.
It was not lawful for her to have it in her possession and so she keeps it hidden under the floor boards of her house. But every morning at first light she goes to the hill above the village with the page in her shoe and reads it in dawn’s first light. If she were caught she would be arrested, imprisoned and her family persecuted or killed.
She was offered a full Bible but as much as she would like to own one she was fearful of how to keep it hidden and how she would carry it without being seen. So she refused.
