Two hundred people were about to attack a church in A in which some believers were having a service. Fifteen of those in the service came outside to try and defend the church. But they soon fell on the ground. (Whether this was to protect themselves or out of fear was not clear). After attempting to attack and shooting off their weapons a couple of times, the attackers turned and fled in fear.
Later the pastor of the church received a phone call from the attacking party accusing him of deceiving them into attacking by making it look like there were so few defenders, when they really had so many. The pastor replied, “What do you mean? We only had those few people to defend us.” The reply was, “Quit trying to lie even more, we saw that large group of Dutch warriors that you had guarding your church!” Then the believers realised that God sent his angels to protect them.
There has been trouble also in P. All of the churches in P have been destroyed except for one in the military or police compound. During the third “incident” where the Christians rose up to defend themselves, working on the premise it’s better to attack than be attacked, the group were forbidden to take anything for themselves. A large sum of money that was found in a house was cut up and burnt. [They were following the biblical principle of Josh at Ai.] Muslims were given three days warning to leave, and after three days the Christians came in. Anyone opposing them was killed, but if people still wanted to leave peacefully, they were allowed. The local government leader was at one time surrounded by an angry mob. He was so frightened he wet his pants. It was Christians who rescued him. All pastors had been threatened they would be killed.
Given this tension the people who live in the provincial capital city are in fear that the tensions will spread there. Much of the tension has been spread by provocateurs, who attack both sides and claim it was the others. As a result some of the Christians guarded the mosques on Fridays to protect the mosque and those in them from attack. Then on Sundays the Muslims reciprocated by protecting the churches.
