Mr. Y and Miss X were called late one night by the wife of a former mayor of the city, who was not a Christian when he was mayor but now he is. (His wife still isn’t.) She said, “Please come pray with me. The subversive commander in the area and some of his men have taken my husband. “They went and prayed and fasted through that night and all the next day. They felt God compelled them to stay and continue praying. That night there was a pounding on the door. When they opened it, the subversive commander shoved his captive into the house and came in. He had a gun and a bottle of aguardiente (poison). He was furious. He shouted, “I know what you are doing! You are praying to your God. I took this man to kill him, didn’t I, Mr. Z?, tell them, Mr. Z, I was going to kill you, wasn’t I?” The man answered affirmatively. The subversive commander told them there was a power that would not let him kill the husband and he knew it was because they were praying. He tried to get them all to drink the aguardiente. Miss X refused to and amazingly he just turned and stormed out.
