I am interested to know what you think about the ranking of sins. Have you ever taken time to ponder the idea?
Just for a moment take time and make a list of your ranking of sins. Number one would be the sin you personally feel is most heinous; the worst sin of all. Then working your way down to the least. The ones that are really inconsequential. Where do you rank murder? Would anything rank above it? What about rape, incest, things like that? What do you feel when you get down the list to things like lying, white lies and black lies and blues lies and other colour lies? What sins do you not really consider sins at all? Speeding in your car? Others?
I would like to see what you think. Take the time to send the result to me. I will continue with this in the following Gems. Yes there is a point to it and I am sure if you really thought about it you could come up with the answer and prefigure where Ian is going with this. Tell me your thoughts. Your list does not have to be comprehensive. Don’t take too long over it. As a guideline let’s say – the 5 top sins and the 5 bottom sins; a list of 10 in all. Would you do that for me? Furthermore I need your response now so I can process it for the next Gem. Would you do that?
No more in the Gem today; just some homework for you before we proceed. You know I like to get you to do things and not just be passive. Maybe I should make homework a prerequisite to you in order to receive the next two Gems. Ha, ha that would be radical, wouldn’t it? Just thinking aloud.
The centre of your attention will give direction to where you’re heading. So pay attention to what you’re paying attention to.

God never promises to remove us from our struggles. He does promise, however, to change the way we look at them.

The results of this survey and the next two Gems may do just that, i.e. change the way you look at things.
