- A man does well not to marry . . . every man should have his own wife (GNB)
- It is good for a man to have nothing to do with a woman . . . let every man have his wife (BBE)
Isn’t this confusing advice? You do well not to marry but every man should have his own wife.
It is good for a man to have nothing to do with a woman but let every man have his wife.
This adds new meaning to the saying “to have and to hold till death do us part”. Have a wife but you would do well not to marry. Is Paul against marriage? Many think so from these verses and his advice seems to be confusing. Don’t marry but have a wife. To be or not to be becomes to marry or not to marry – that is the question.
See what you can do to sort out this confusion. I will leave you a day to come up with your solution. See if you can apply all you have learned in Bible Gems and Deeper Bible so far. If you have just joined me in receiving the Gems then see what you can do on the basis of what you have done in the past to solve Bible problems. Then we will talk about it.
Anytime you expect anyone to meet needs in your life that only God can meet, it’s unfair to them & disappointing to you.
